This is quite a unique version of the costume because it has poppers down both sides of the trousers and the gown meaning the costume can essentially break away from the actor. The shirt is a front section and a back section stitched into the gown.
The sleeves of the shirt are not connected and are easily slipped onto the forearms.

When he returned home and laid on his bed, the idea was to transition to the next shot of him in pajamas by having crew members pulling off his costume from under him and over him..... revealing his pajamas underneath to show time passed since he laid down.
They didn't use that part of the footage sadly.

However it is still very much the costume he arrives home in, during his bedroom scene when he closes the curtains and lays down on the bed.
